Cherry Runs: Honoring Velma Rose "Cherry" Stephens & Supporting ALS Awareness
At CHAMPS Basketball, we believe in the power of sport to bring communities together, not only for competition, but for a greater purpose. Over the past year, our Adult Open Basketball Runs grew into something deeply meaningful. From that, Cherry Runs was created, an initiative dedicated to raising awareness and funds for ALS, in loving memory of our Aunt, Velma Rose Stephens, affectionately known as Cherry, who passed away on January 7, 2024, after her battle with ALS.
Through Cherry Runs, our community came together weekly to stay active, build relationships, and give back. Thanks to the generosity of participants, we were able to raise over $600, with donations given freely and from the heart.
At this time, our Adult Open Basketball Runs (Cherry Runs) are open. We truly appreciate the support, love, and energy shown by everyone who participated. For the current time and location please message us at 514-928-2637.Β
Cherry Runs is more than basketball, itβs about honoring a legacy, raising awareness, and standing together for a cause that matters. When we return, we look forward to welcoming everyone back to continue this meaningful journey.
Together, we play for Cherry.
Updates on reopening will be shared soon
